Our musical director
Bianca Rantala
Bianca Rantala is a Finnish-Estonian award-winning composer, conductor, and vocalist known for her bold, emotionally charged musical expression that bridges the worlds of jazz and contemporary music. Her compositions are praised for their depth, innovation, and vibrant orchestration, often moving effortlessly between genres with both intelligence and playfulness.

Rantala was named Composer of the Year 2025 at the Estonian Jazz Awards and won the Nordic Composition Contest in 2023. As a performer, her expressive vocal range leaves a lasting impression—described as “criminally good” by Jazzkaar’s Kristiina Malm-Olesk.

Having also studied music production and songwriting, and worked extensively with a wide range of artists as an arranger, collaborator, and team member, Rantala brings a unique creative perspective to every project. Her ability to write across genres—from orchestral works to pop bangers—makes her a versatile and sought-after musical voice.

Audiences across Europe have been captivated by her distinctive style, which critics describe as painting “on a large canvas, using bright colors and mixed techniques” (Sirp), and gliding “almost irritatingly lightly between musical traditions” (Turun Sanomat). Whether on stage or in the studio, she brings fresh energy and emotional intensity to every project she leads.
